....I believe a Pirate Internet station with suitable charity donation links may be appearing in the ether as if by magic shortly or soon thereafter........

The idea of an online station broadcasting old shows is a fantastic idea. I have many hours worth of sessions from 1974-1979 and alot of peel chat, that I would happily donate to anyone who would like to hear. Perhaps I will compile a list and post it here.

The website radio rewind http://www.radiorewind.co.uk/john_peel_page.htm has some clips of peel that can be downloaded. These include about 1 and a quater hours of one of his shows from 1978 (split up in to 5 x 15 minute segments)well worth checking out.

If anyone else does have any full shows available I'd be interested also  Wink

Roland, there is a lot of active movement of old shows across the internet.  You can find them on some of the P2P sites.  Several of us keep ftp sites available too.  I suggest you start in the links section of this site and start getting acquanted with the community.

Never give anyone money for copyrighted material - except the copyright owner obviously. Anyone seen to be making money out of John peel's legacy and his recordings would be wholly inappropriate in my view and I'm certain that's a view help by all 'members' of the Peel community.

However I don't think genuine John Peel listeners would participate in the selling or buying of such material as it would go against the grain of all that we believe in and hold dear.

Buy the records made by the bands featured in those recordings and support the live music scene and new music in general but radio shows MUST always be traded freely.

Here endeth the sermon.

The Peel Tapes website http://www.jonhorne.co.uk/jptapes/jptapes.html provides links to downloads of some of his shows including his radio 1 shows and there are some for the Perfumed Garden as well.

The programs change every few weeks or so, it's worth checking out

http://rapidshare.de/files/12174580/peel_wed2414.rm.html

This is a full show from a wednesday some time in either 2003/04.
Have a couple more if people would like them uploaded.

I can't actually play it on this machine to give you some show info, as I don't have realplayer. Oh well.

I've put some stuff on some CD's and I'm slowly transferring about 16 cassettes worth of peel sessions from the mid to late seventies.

CD 1 I've called Bits of Peel and its one I put together for Andy Kershaw. It has some music, but mainly snippets of peel chat between tracks.
CD2 is called John Peel Reggae and has him introducing various classic reggae stuff.
CD3 is twenty Peel trailors for the alan freeman programme from 76/77/78. Hilarious stuff with John Walters!

If your interested I will only ask for the postage cost
